CAMERON MAIN PROFILE

My name is Cameron Main and I am twenty-two years old, I recently graduated from the University of Stirling with an Honours degree in Sport and Exercise Science. I am now based in Loughborough training in the Olympic Performance Squad based at Loughborough University. I have been doing triathlon since I was 12 years old, and now compete for Great Britain across Europe and the rest of the World. I was born and brought up in Elgin (North of Scotland) and coached by my dad until I got selected onto the Scottish Triathlon Foundation Squad in 2013. I was then selected onto the Scottish Triathlon Development Squad in 2015 and have been part of that programme since, which has been updated to the Commonwealth Games Squad in 2021 for the foreseeable future.

Some of my best results and achievements to date include, 3rd place at Dnipro Europe Triathlon Cup, qualified for the World and European U23 Championships 2021 and senior European Championships 2021, 2nd at the British Senior Triathlon Championships 2019, 3rd at the British Junior Triathlon Championships 2018.

Before Triathlon I used to do Taekwondo for seven years where I earned my black belt and also took part in several running races. My dad got me into triathlon after I quit Taekwondo in 2012.

I am also the chairman of Abbie’s Sparkle Foundation, a Scottish charity created by my sister Abbie Main before she passed away on Christmas Day 2017 at 15 years old. The charity was founded on the 26th of December 2017, we aim to help children up to the age of 18 who are affected by cancer by giving gifts and grants called Sparkles.
